Good Goddess Festival 1999

Carol, Remember when you (?) hid the New Leaf paintings all over town? My son, 5 now, found one when we were walking thru the cemetary. Your leaf thrills us, I turn it over often and since I now have a computer I decided to contact you. Thank you for giving many people another reason to smile.

Happy new Year with a smile, Pennee

While visiting your lovely Abingdon with my husband, I found one of your new leaves. I was told about your project by a woman in the bakery and found my leaf shortly later. I brought it home with me to Granville, Ohio, and keep it in my office. Several people have enjoyed 'turning over a new leaf ', in the past weeks.

Please let me know the details of your new leaf project. I'm so
happy to have found one.

Sincerely,
Sandy

Saturday, March 20th. I had not been having a very good day. My sweetheart and I were in the middle of some very emotional trust issues (aak!) but I had an engagement that afternoon at 153 West Bookstore in Abingdon to tell stories for the Good Goddess show. All through my telling, my head was churning with lots of stuff that had NOTHING to do with goddesses, good or otherwise, but the rage was very Hera-like, as was the jealousy. Heading out after the performance, I walked through Abingdon. The sun was bright, the flowers blooming, the birds chirping. I shopped, I lunched at the Starving Artist, and by then, I was feeling better--well, resigned-- and a little bleak. "A sign would be nice," I thought. "A sign that this %@#* will pass and we'll be okay."

On my way home, I passed the Arts Depot. There, propped up against the street side wall, sat a leaf! Oh, did I squeal with delight! I had admired the one exhibited in the Artist and thought about how wonderful it would be to find one, but the way my luck was running, it was not meant to be. I was so excited; I felt like the Easter Bunny had left me the golden egg!

So thank you very much for your wonderful gift. It was just the sign I needed to get me through a tough time and it is a wonderful reminder of renewal, spring, and good surprises!
